04 Technical information on the project and objectives:
The main objective of the project is the search for alternatives that will allow the recycled papers to achieve levels of flexibility, extensibility, TEA and bursting similar to those of non-recycled fiber kraft papers, while maintaining the strength properties that characterize the current Saica liner papers, mainly in terms of compression. This would allow them to compete, especially for high board weights, with the current kraft liner papers.
A second objective would be focused on the use of the results obtained to manufacture a paper suitable for paper bags.
This aspect is important since
it is foreseeable that the current regulations concerning plastic bags will change
in the coming years, and it is expected that in 2020 the sale of
light and fragmentable plastic bags will be prohibited, with the exception of those produced
with compostable material.
The project will study and investigate 4 complementary lines of action
and that according to the reviewed bibliography and the
knowledge of the participants present a high technological novelty
mainly due to the use of recovered cellulose as raw material.
In parallel to these lines of work, a study will be carried out on the basis of the performance of these modifications in the fibers and their relationship with the basic structure of the paper recycled, so that the knowledge acquired will allow the optimization of the treatments carried out.
