GRAPEVINE
High performance computing services for prevention and control of pests in fruit crops
Call: CEF- Connecting Europe Facility
Program / Reference: INEA/CEF/ICT/A2018/1837816
Date: 01/10/2019-30/09/2022
The GRAPEVINE project aims to promote the use of Open Data and High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures for the development of a predictive model based on Machine Learning techniques.
The project aims to improve the prevention and control of grapevine diseases, such as downy mildew, with the objective of reducing the amount of fungicide used in the prevention of these diseases, as well as the number of preventive treatments carried out by wine producers, thus introducing sustainability criteria in agricultural production and offering consumers higher quality and safer products.
In this way, the model to be developed in the project to control downy mildew, as well as other vine diseases, will allow:
– Use the existing infrastructure of both open data and HPC to address the challenges faced in the agricultural sector.
– Provide an open information system that can be used by wine producers to make more effective treatments against grapevine diseases.
– Provide a reusable service that can potentially be used in any region of the world facing similar problems.
