Climate Adaptation and Resilience Demonstrated In the MEDiterranean region – CARDIMED
Program: HORIZONTE EUROPE
Reference: 101112731
RESOLUTION Date: 05/23/2023
Execution date: 01/09/2023-29/02/2028
CARDIMED aims to improve climate resilience in the Mediterranean region through the use of nature-based solutions (NBS). The project will demonstrate 47 different types of NBS through 83 interventions across 10 regions and 20 locations. The participating communities will establish the CARDIMED Resilience Alliance, which will be the vehicle for expanding the network of partners by scaling existing locations and adding new ones. The project expects to have 28 regions and 70 communities in the network by 2030, create 8000 jobs in the NBS sector and mobilize 450M€ in investments. The project is coordinated by the Laboratory of Sanitary Engineering of the Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and involves 50 partners.
ITAINNOVA’s participation focuses on the demonstration case of HALCOR (Oinofyta, Greece), on the integration of NBS in a copper tube manufacturing plant and water management supported by simulation models of the complete system.
