BLOCKmaqCHAIN

01.- NAME OF THE PROJECT

BLOCKmaqCHAIN – Study on the applications of Blockchain technology for innovation in the value chain of the construction machinery manufacturing industry.

02.- SUMMARY

Definition of a portfolio of experimental development and innovation projects related to the application of blockchain technology, in combination with other technologies (especially IoT), for the generation of new services and innovative global business models for the sector of machinery manufacturers for construction.

03.- GENERAL DATA

  • Description: call for proposals to support innovative business clusters for 2018
  • File number: AEI-010300-2018-270
  • Date of grant: 12/13/2018
  • Date of execution: 15/9/2018 TO 31/3/2019

04.- INFORMATION TECHNICAL INFORMATION ON THE PROJECT AND ITS OBJECTIVES

The R&D&I activities defined in this study fit perfectly within the thematic priority “Communications and data processing in the value chain” included in Annex VII of the call for proposals.

This is because the objective of the present study is the definition of a portfolio of experimental development and innovation projects related to the application of blockchain technology, in combination with other technologies (especially IoT), for the generation of new services and innovative global business models for the construction machinery manufacturing sector. Therefore, it can be noted that the focus of this study is perfectly aligned with the type of projects expected in the thematic area ” Communications and data processing in the value chain“.

Figure 1: Conceptual framework of enablers of digitalization (MINETUR)

This project addresses an analysis of the technology blockchain, from the technological, regulatory and legal point of view, which allows to know to the Spanish manufacturers of construction machinery their strengths and limitations and from there it is possible to define new innovative services and new global business models based on the attributes and capabilities of blockchain technology.

To this end, the following activities will be carried out:

  • Capture of needs and opportunities to be solved in the global value chain of manufacturers of construction machinery that may be susceptible to generate new services or new business models.
  • Conducting of a study on the application (opportunities, limitations and possible solutions) of blockchain technology for the construction machinery manufacturers sector. Classification of the most relevant technologies (platforms, existing development tools , integration with IoT systems, tools for smart contracts, etc.).
  • Development of a technological demonstrator at laboratory level that allows to visualize the operation of blockchain technology for the generation of a service in a simulated environment, which will allow a better dissemination of the possibilities of this technology among manufacturers of construction machinery.
  • Development of business models for construction machinery manufacturers for the provision and sale of services based on blockchain technology at combined with other technologies (especially IoT).
  • Generation of projects for the development and implementation of new services and/or new/improved machines that through the use of blockchain technology in combination with other technologies (especially IoT) enable the implementation of new business models for construction machinery manufacturers.
