The project

The project has been carried out between the AEI LOGISTICS CLUSTER OF ARAGON (ALIA), the companies of transport TAC LOGISTICA and MARCOTRAN and the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITAINNOVA), has as general objective the adaptation and application of a methodology of digitization around the industry I4.0 to two companies in the transport sector, in order to detect opportunities around the benefits of digitization of processes for order management, delivery notes or fleet tracking and deploy two pilots in each of the companies.

This project is framed within the thematic priorities defined in the Connected Industry 4.0 Strategy. Within the priorities thematic priorities defined, in project is located in line C. HYBRIDIZATION OF THE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL WORLD, specifically in Development and implementation of ICT applications and solutions in the value chain of the company.

Project objectives

Technical information on the project and its objectives:

A detailed analysis of the impact and degree of adoption of Industry 4.0 concepts in the sector of freight transport, along the entire value chain, involving the global supply chain. Adaptation of a diagnostic methodology for Industry 4.0 previously developed by the Technological Institute of Aragon to the field of freight transport, and its application to two partner companies of ALIA: TAC Logística and MARCOTRAN. Detection of opportunities for improvement and barriers to the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies for the companies participating in the project, including the elaboration of a roadmap of business transformation projects towards Industry 4.0.

Fundamental objectives for transport companies:
  • Optimize its production capacity and associated logistics management.
  • Improved service traceability.
  • Elimination of physical documentation.
  • Elimination of human error.
  • Promptness in the orders of the chain of command.
  • Improved billing processes.
  • Elimination of checks.

In addition to the objectives described above, transportation companies will achieve the following secondary objectives:

  • Analysis and study of the technical and economic feasibility of the complete integration of all the information flow necessary for the perfect development of the transport service, configuring an innovative solution for the management of communication and data processing.
  • Availability ontime of all information, accessible via web, either through computer, tablet or smartphone. Increased availability of information readable.
  • Competitive advantage by offering the customer a system own total tracking of your order. Offering these services to customers is a clear plus.
  • Increased analytical capacity.
  • Environmentally friendly practices.

Innovative Business Clusters

This project has received a grant under the program to support Innovative Business Groups (AEIs). This program to support the strengthening of innovation clusters is inserted in the European strategy to improve competitiveness for the innovation.

The clusters that can benefit from the program’s grants are those entities whose innovative potential and critical mass have been recognized by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO) through their registration in the Register of Innovative Business Clusters.
