The objective of the STREAM-0D project is to move towards zero-defect manufacturing by integrating simulation models capable of interacting with the production process in real time into production systems. These models are fed on the one hand with actual production data and on the other hand control the production process based on the model’s own prediction, all at the pace set by the production line. The immense potential of this Industry 4.0 technology will reduce production variability, increase line flexibility and eliminate defects. The integration of computationally expensive simulation models into high-performance production lines is made possible by order reduction techniques that allow instant solutions of complex models. The project will demonstrate this technology in three production processes in the automotive sector: brake servos, bearings and seals. These processes are completely different from each other, since they use different production methods, different manufacturing processes and different materials.
